La Liga swings back into action after the international break with a couple of spicy fixtures.
The round kicks off with Granada vs Sevilla. This is a must watch to learn something about Spanish football away from the big 3. El Grana have made a good start to the season following on from their qualification for Europa last season. Sevilla is the team that is threatening that the dominance of the big 3 and I think they will win an entertaining game by 2 goals to 1.
The big 3 of Atletico, Barca and Madrid are all in action on Saturday, which is a bit different. Atleti have had a sluggish start to the season but I expect them to get going by beating Celta Vigo. Barcelona and Real Madrid are both up against plucky upstarts in the form of Getafe and Cadiz respectively but they will be heavy favourites. Barca hasn’t lost in their last 10 games versus Getafe and they have scored in the first half of their last 6 matches and they should keep that run going. Barcelona to win 3-0. Real Madrid are on a run of 8 home wins in a row and should make that 9 with Cadiz visiting them at the Bernabeu. Madrid to win 4-0.
The rest of the fixtures are dicey but I’ll have a go with some predictions because my tipping rival (Frans Eggenbauer) has been making noise about the Bundesliga, so here goes:
Eibar 0 – 1 Osasuna
Athletic Club 2 – 0 Levante
Villarreal 3 – 2 Valencia
Alaves 2 – 0 Elche
Huesca 0 – 1 Real Valladolid
Real Betis 1 – 3 Real Sociedad
The Quad @ 6/1:
Sevilla, Atletico, Barcelona, Real Madrid all to win
