EPL: Gameweek 2

The greatest football league in the world returns this weekend with a full complement of fixtures for us to enjoy! Things get underway with Everton playing host to West Brom, Everton were impressive and the acquisition of James Rodriguez is sure to pay due dividends – it just looks the entire team want to play at his level.

Manchester United will play their first game back against a Palace side who got off to a good start against the Saints. Michy Batshuayi will only add to the attacking threat of the Eagles but I still cannot see past a United victory here. The other half of Manchester welcome Wolves to the Etihad – hardly the way they would want to get their campaign underway given what happened last season…who starts at the back for City? How will Ake fit into this Pep Guardiola team? I reckon Wolves get something out of this one.

The big one this weekend is obviously Chelsea v Liverpool, this has all the makings of an absolute blockbuster early in the League. I don’t think either side kicked off their season with a tremendous display, if anything Liverpool looked very similar to their former selves (unsettled defence but an enthralling attack).

I don’t think a Chelsea win here would be an upset but as they say on Merseyside “We’ve got Salah” and so a draw might be a decent pick!

Everton v West Brom 3-0
Leeds v Fulham 3-1
Manchester United v C Palace 2-1
Arsenal v West Ham 4-1
Southampton v Spurs0-2
Newcastle v Brighton1-0
Chelsea v Liverpool 2-2
