Bayern vs Schalke
The champions of Europe kick off the new season against a Schalke team who have, I hope, finally returned from self-isolation. Even though Munchen have seen a few players leave they are still the favourite to win their 9th consecutive Bundesliga title. Give me Bayern to start off strong in the opening game of week 1.
Frankfurt vs Arminia Bielefeld
Frankurt start their campaign off against newly promoted Arminia. Frankfurt are still in form after finishing the last season with some good results and also making the round of 16 in Europa. But Arminia could have a surprise start and maybe make a statement. The points will be split in this opening encounter.
Union Berlin vs Augsburg
Looking at both these two teams not much has changed in the line-ups. Both squads are the basically the same and I feel this encounter will be a close one with either a very early goal or a very late one in stoppage time. Give me the visitors to edge out the home team.
FC Koln vs Hoffenheim
Looking at this match the advantage should go to the visitors. Hoffenheim will be looking to build momentum towards their Europa Qualification and this match is a good build up to see if any of their new signings can give them the goals they desire. As for Koln, Welcome Back?
Werder Bremen vs Hertha Berlin
The Blue men from Berlin travel to the survivors of the relegation battle in Bremen. Hertha will want to improve since last season and Bremen having managed to survive are under pressure. They will survive an onslaught from Berlin, but I think the visitors will be able to outplay the home team.
Stuttgart vs Freiburg
Ladies and Gentleman welcome back to the Bundesliga, Stuttgart (All Stuttgart fans clapping)! This I think is where the upset will happen this weekend. Stuttgart will welcome the Boys from the Black forest and I feel they will outplay the vultures.
Dortmund vs Monchengladbach
This is the match of the weekend. A battle between the Borussia’s, the Yellow and Black wall vs The White and Black Wave. With Jadon Sancho still waiting for United to open the cheque book he could drive his price up even more and with the help of Reus and Bellingham, I feel this is a game for Dortmund to send a message to the rivals in Munich. Don’t count out the Gladbach boys but the Yellow wall will stand strong.
RB Leipzig vs Mainz
Well with Timo Werner gone to Chelsea is this the start of the decline of Leipzig? I doubt it, even without Timo, Leipzig made the semis of the Champions League. And now the Number 10 shirt is available, the question is who is going to put their hand up and be Leipzig’s new striker and beat Mainz?
Wolfsburg vs Leverkusen
With all the English teams raiding the Bundesliga will the standard still be high? I have a feeling that yes it will. Two top German teams going against each other on Sunday night, what a way to end the first game week. Give the Red Lions of Leverkusen to defeat the Wolves.
Top picks @ 3/1
