La Liga: Matchweek 30

Granada v Villarreal

Two good teams that have been on form since the restart, so it will be a tasty encounter to kick off the weekend. Granada have a poor record against them but I think they’ll start change that.

Prediction: 2 – 1

Mallorca v Leganes

18th vs 20th so it’s important for both teams to get a win if they’re to salvage their status in La Liga but neither team even knows how to smell a win. Toss up, this one.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Sevilla v Barcelona

Friday night football is a thing now and this is the main attraction. The Madristas will be watching and hoping 3rd-placed Sevilla can cause Barca to stumble here. I don’t see that happening but I do see an entertaining fixture on the cards.

Prediction: 1 – 2

Espanyol v Levante

With a win and a draw in their last two outings, 19th-placed Espanyol seem to have come with a plan to avoid relegation. Levante has 3 draws in a row and both teams would settle for a point here.

Prediction: 0 – 0

Athletic Club v Real Betis

Both teams have been patchy since restart and need a jump start. Athletic are the better side and Betis have a few key injury worries.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Getafe v Eibar

Before the enforced break, Getafe were the surprise package of the season but they haven’t hit the ground running with the restart. I expect they will get into gear here against a defensively poor Eibar.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Atletico Madrid v Real Valladolid

Atletico are on the march and are coming off a 5 – 0 thumping of Osasuna. Valladolid are a team that plays conservatively and I expect Diego Simeone’s team to come out firing and look for an early goal to dominate the game.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Celta Vigo v Deportivo Alaves

Both teams have no real form to speak of and neither are big scorers. Low scoring draw on the cards here.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Valencia v Osasuna

I’ve been backing Valencia aka Los Che (the mates) but so far they’ve been like that mate that always lets you down! Osasuna or later, Valencia have got to come right though and they have won their last 3 home games against this opposition by 2 or more goals.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid

This game concludes the round of fixtures and Sociedad will make things difficult for Madrid at the Reale Arena but Los Blancos are coming with too much firepower for the home team. They’re going to chase Barca for the title down to the wire.

Prediction: 0 – 1
