Bundesliga: Matchweek 28

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

Der Klassiker! Bayern are currently 4 points ahead of Dortmund and with only six matches left after this, it is a must win for Dortmund if they want to snatch the crown. The last time these two met in the league Bayern carved Dortmund up winning 4-0, I can’t see a similar scoreline come Tuesday evening but I do expect a high scoring affair. Dortmund have been decent at home but Bayern are munchen absolutely everyone at the moment!

Prediction: 2-3

Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg

This is a very important match for Leverkusen – beating M’gladbach on Saturday they were able to put themselves right back into the top four mix! They’ve scored 7 goals in their last 2 games, expect them to come out firing. Wolfsburg have been toothless.

Prediction: 3-1

Frankfurt vs Freiburg

A tale of two different clubs: one trying to avoid the relegation zone and the other trying to make European qualification. Frankfurt have been struggling since the return, getting battered by both M’gladbach and Bayern. If Freiburg want a spot in the Europa League this year, they have got to play better football. Freiburg to get a goal in the first half (for those among us looking to get a couple extra coins for the coffers) and go on to see out the win.

Prediction: 0-1

Bremen vs Monchengladbach

Gladbach will be glad to see the back of Leverkusen after that 3-1 defeat. They are a better team than that performance and I expect them to show it against Bremen, who, although are coming off a good win, don’t really matchup to Die Fohlen.

 Prediction: 0-3

Leipzig vs Hertha Berlin

This should be another humdinger after Der Klassiker! Difficult one to call,  both these sides can turn it on from nowhere but history is on Leipzig’s side as they have not lost to Hertha in their past 4 meetings and I can’t make much of a case for that to change.

Prediction: 2-1

Hoffenheim vs Koln

The Hoff are under some pressure – after losing to Hertha 3-0 at home and drawing with bottom of the table Paderborn, they really need to get a win here if they want to make a push for a European spot. Koln, two points behind them can leapfrog Hoffenheim with a win here. Give me a draw with both teams leaving it all out on the pitch.

Prediction: 2-2

Dusseldorf vs Schalke

The past two games Schalke have not shown up – simple as that. The combination between them and David Wagner seemed to have all the makings of a match made in heaven but since the League restarted they have been poor. They’re a better team than Dusseldorf though and should earn a win here.

Prediction: 0-1

Augsburg vs Paderborn

Bottom of the table clash, and with only six games to go after this match both teams can’t let this chance for 3 points slip by. These teams have met each other twelve times in the past and its dead even with both teams having four wins each and also four draws. Paderborn have managed just two points in their last two outings, meanwhile Augsburg showed that when their manager brushes his teeth they look brighter.

Prediction: 2-1

Union Berlin vs Mainz

At the moment both teams look like they want this season to end. Union Berlin were outplayed by their city rivals and Mainz were picked apart by Leipzig. I don’t expect much here.

Prediction: 1-0

Treble @ 5/1

  • Leverkusen
  • M’Gladbach
  • Leipzig + BTTS
