I hope everyone is enjoying the La Liga and it is about to get better, with Barcelona, Atletico and Sevilla also playing now after their extended breaks.
Starting with Barcelona and the beginning of the Ronald Koeman era, there are so many off-field issues currently plaguing the team with the issues revolving around the presidency of the club. Their first game is against in-form Villarreal, so I will pause on backing them this round and see how they are looking.
Similarly, Atletico are up against an in-form Granada. You may get good odds for Atleti here but bear in mind that Granada are top of the early standings with 2 wins from 2 games.
Sevilla have got the type of opening game that managers wish for and Julen Lopetegui will surely be thankful that they play newly promoted Cadiz. For this reason, I pick Sevilla as a strong favourite.
As predicted, Madrid struggled to score in their opening game last week but I predict them to bounce back against Betis. Real Betis has only won one of their last 5 home games against Los Blancos.
Valencia has been beset by ownership problems but on the field they still have quality with the likes of Maxi Gomez to beat Huesca, who are playing in only their 2nd ever season in La Liga. The last time these teams met, in May 2019, Valencia won 6 – 2.
Real Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia all to win @ 5/1
