After the international break EPL EGGHEADS returns with our preview and predictions for the Premier League this weekend. Some tantalizing football awaits us, so without further ado…
West Ham v Manchester City
City, in my opinion, looks to be light-years ahead of everyone outside of the top 6. I can’t see West Ham causing City to many serious problems this weekend. The Hammers could get on the score sheet though, Marco Arnautovic can ask questions of that back 4 (or Ederson could come sliding out…) so for some extra value, back City + both teams to score @ 14/10.
Everton v Cardiff
Everton were relatively impressive against Chelsea. I thought they defended really well and stuck to their shape for the most part of the 90 minutes. Cardiff at home, however, should be a must-win game for the Toffees – do that and then going away to top sides and setting up to be difficult to break down is justified.
Richarlison will be full of confidence after his international display and this should be a routine win for Everton. Back the home win @ 9/20.
Brighton v Leicester
This is going to be a difficult game for Leicester so I fancy Brighton to claim all 3 points. I know its getting to a point where we’ve heard enough of it, but you’ve got to admire the way the club have handled their tough time.
I don’t expect fireworks here, but I’ll side with Brighton to win a rather cagey affair. Back them @ 2/1.
Fulham v Southampton
Fulham have annoyed me this season; they just haven’t got going and yet we’re almost halfway through the season. I feel a bit for Slavisa Jokanovic, its always tough to come from the Championship and really perform within a couple months.
Claudio Ranieri is back in the Premier League, Dilly ding dilly dong!! It’ll be very interesting to see how he sets Fulham up to play. Aleksandar Mitrovic is their best player by a country mile, but doesn’t have the pace to allow the side to play on the counter.
I’m going to go for Fulham to get a positive result in their new managers first game! Fulham/Draw + over 1.5 goals @ 17/20 is the tip.
Watford v Liverpool
This is a really tough game to predict, simply because Watford are a decent team and could get a result but could also get hammered. Liverpool has a big game against PSG on Wednesday but for me they have to focus on the League, surely?
I don’t think Watford will win this but I’m not confident enough to tip Liverpool outright either…Liverpool/Draw + both teams to score @ 1/1.
Manchester United v C Palace
I think this will be a straightforward United win. Palace relies to heavily on Zaha, who isn’t playing well anyway. I think he could be something special but he has to move away from Selhurst Park.
United need a good performance here, not only for their confidence, but also for their fans.
Back United (-1) @ 11/10.
Spurs v Chelsea
This should be an absolute cracker of a derby – a real derby. There really isn’t much to choose between these two sides at the moment; maybe except for the fact that Chelsea’s ‘’main men’’ are playing better than those at Spurs.
Spurs doesn’t have the depth in their squad that Chelsea has, for the most part Mauricio Pochettino has his hands tied… Chelsea has some serious firepower on the bench in the form of Olivier Giroud, Pedro or even Ross Barkley. If there is to be a winner on Saturday, for my money it’ll come down to the bench.
I can’t see Chelsea losing but I’m going to opt for the draw, which wouldn’t be a terrible result for the Blues. If they came second or third in their managers first season in charge it would be a great start to life at the bridge for the Italian.
Back the draw @ 24/10.
Bournemouth v Arsenal
I’m really looking forward to this game, simply because I think its going to be the upset of the weekend. Both of these sides are going to play an open attacking game, and for the neutral it’s going to be insane. Bournemouth are playing with confidence and are slowly turning the vitality stadium into a fortress.
These are the games that make the Premier League the greatest in the world! Back the Cherries on the double chance + over 2.5 @ 2/1.
Wolves v Huddersfield
Wolves are another side have been incredibly frustrating at times. They can have an absolute cracker game and not get the ball in the back of the net. They need an out-and-out goal scorer, but then again so does half the league.
I expect Wolves to win this though, back the pack @ 5/10.
Burnley v Newcastle
You just get the feeling that something is amiss at Burnley right now, especially when they getting beaten fours and fives. Of course Sean Dyche will want to win this game, but I think if Burnley had to draw the game and were once again hard to break down, he would take more joy in that.
Newcastle seems to be approaching the stage of ‘turning the corner’ and hats off to Rafa (again). I think a draw here offers some real value @ 21/10. Get on!
Nest-Egg Treble @ 14/1
- City + BTTS
- Manchester United (-1)
